JAlbum plugin for WordPress – beta test status update

Hello fellow WordPress bloggers and JAlbum fans!

The beta testing progress goes on. Just about 20 individuals have signed up, and they’ve been really helpful. They are quite busy and dedicated (thanks!) and I’m getting valuable feedback. Already a number of errors have been targeted and eliminated and I’m still working on reported issues. As long as they are throwing bug reports and improvement suggestions in my direction (at their current rate) I’m delaying the final public release for everybody’s sake. Hope you agree with this decision.

You can still join the beta testing team if you would like to have a preview of what’s to come, just send me a mail.

As soon as the final public release is ready it will be announced in the official JAlbum newsletter - so why not sign up now?

Best regards,
Michael Schøler

JAlbum for WordPress plugin nearly ready – testers wanted!

You’ve all had great patience -thanks!

I’m glad to announce that v2.0 of my plugin is nearly ready. Actually so much so that it’s running on my blog right now. Check out my old examples which are now presented with the new version.

I’m pondering about setting up a beta-tester page for my new and greatly improved version of my JAlbum plugin for WordPress. Let me know if you are interested in giving the plugin a pre-run. I don’t expect you to do a full functionality test but just to hear your initial feedback and about any errors that you might run into – though that is extreemely improbable… Programmers never make bugs right? ;-)

My plugin is now fully compatible with WordPress v2.5+. As stated earlier I’m not actively developing the plugin for compatibility with lesser versions than WordPress 2.5. If you wish to continue using a prior WordPress version you must use v1.0 of the plugin.

One of the new exiting features is the ability to maintain a JAlbum Library in WordPress. You can upload your jalbum project files through the administrator interface and by doing so getting easy access to all your existing and newly generated albums without manually entering urls, paths and what not.

Also, there is now a “post overview” in the administrator interface where all posts on your blog which currently make use of the plugin are listed. This list can be used to quickly navigate through and edit your existing album posts.

I can reassure you that all inserted albums with v1.0 and earlier of the plugin will continue to function with the new v2.0 (as long as you are using WordPress 2.5+ which as stated above is a requirement for the new plugin version).

Drop me a comment with your e-mail adress if you want to test the new version. I won’t publish beta-tester request comments containing your e-mail adress, don’t worry.

I’ll announce when I either don’t need or can’t cope with any more beta-testers :-)

Current progress on the JAlbum plugin for WordPress v2.5

“Hi, everybody!” – Dr. Nick / Simpsons

I’ve managed to setup the button in the editor, make a nice WordPress 2.5 compatible options page and am currently busy programming some new JAlbum integration features.

Plugin progress...

Hopefully it will soon be ready for release.

WP_JAlbum plugin is not yet compatible with WordPress 2.5

JAlbum for WordPress logo

Hi there

Unfortunately my popular JAlbum plugin is not yet ready for WordPress 2.5. I’m working on it though. If you have upgraded from 2.0+ to 2.5 your currently posted albums will continue to work.

The reason for the plugins incompatibility is that TinyMCE has been upgraded to v3. This version uses a very different plugin system for adding buttons to the editor. I have found examples on how to implement a backwards- and WordPress 2.5 compatible TinyMCE plugin, and I am putting some weekend hours into it.

So stay tuned, an update will become available eventually.

Best regards,
