Spoudware
I hereby present you with: Spoudware!
Spoudware is a proprosed word to be used for malicious and/or hidden programmatic content found in future cloud applications and services. Spoudware is a combination of the existing known words spyware and cloud.
An example of spoudware could be a hidden ressource allocator which rides along with otherwise harmless cloud applications or services. Any user engaged in using the spoudware will e.g. have a certain amount of CPU/RAM/HD allocated to be used by the malicious author.
This is, whether we like it or not, going to be a real problem once cloud computing is an everyday thing for all internet connected PC’s and computing/storage capable equipment (pervasive computing).
Having a word for the problem, such as it is the case with spyware, viruses, trojans, malware, and so forth is just as legit when it comes to this situation, and eases talking about the same subject, creating awareness about the problem, and conter-measureing the issue at hand.
